A hot curry powder packed with traditional Indian flavours - makes the perfect madras curry.

Beef Madras Recipe:

Ingredients:

  • 500g beef steak, cut into bitesize pieces
  • 50g madras curry powder
  • 1 large onion, thinly sliced
  • 2 tbsp tomato puree
  • 150ml beef stock
  • lemon juice

Method:

  1. Heat oil in a pan and add the onions, cook until soft and caramelised, add the beef and sear until browned on all sides.
  2. Add the curry powder and continue to cook for another 5 minutes, until the spices become fragrant.
  3. Add the tomato puree, mix till combined and cook for 2 minutes before adding the stock, bring to the boil, cover and simmer for 1 hr 25 minutes or until the beef is tender and the sauce has reduced.
  4. Serve with rice & raita!
  5. This recipe also works great in the slow cooker.
